Today was a day of transition from the High Plains to the beginning of the mountainous region of Montana. The Judith mountains provided a good training ride for what lies ahead!
The temperature when I woke up this morning in my tent was 51° and I felt rather cold. It is a shock to the system to lose 50° in the space of 24 hours!
Lewistown,Which is not named after Merriweather Lewis, Is a nice town that gives the appearance of being a resort town in a waiting. After passing through the Judith gap I cruised downhill into town and asked the first local I saw weather in the Central Montana history museum located in Lewistown was worthy of a visit. He wasn’t sure but the one thing he thought I absolutely needed while in town was drink the water, which is supplied by a huge reservoir in the nearby mountains.
In Montana if you have to ask how far something is, then it is generally too far for you on a bicycle.
Thanks for telling us about that planet which co-exists with ours. Seems so far away from big city life, yet so close. Hopefully it will get cooler as you climb the mountains.
